Look Up!”

BY

GREG LAURIE

“Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” —Luke 21:28

All around us are signs of the times, alerting us to the fact that the coming of Jesus is near. He said, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28).

The Bible speaks of a number of key events that are related to the Holy Land in the end times. Israel’s becoming a nation and her regathering in the land again is not just a sign of the times, but it could be described as a super sign of the times. The Bible predicted that Israel would be scattered throughout the world and then regathered together as a nation. It says that the Antichrist, the coming world leader, will make a covenant with Israel, rebuild their temple for them, and ultimately desecrate it in what Jesus described as the abomination of desolation.

The Bible predicts that the Battle of Armageddon will be fought in Israel’s Valley of Megiddo in the end times. It also predicts that a large force from the north of Israel will attack her again in the last days after she is regathered in the land. And finally, the Bible tells us that Christ will come back to Israel, setting foot on the Mount of Olives.

The Bible is the one book that dares to predict the future. And we can look back and see how the Bible has been accurate in what was the future then, but is history now, as it spoke of the coming of Jesus the first time. So we can be confident that when the Bible speaks of our future, where Scripture promises Christ will return again, that God will indeed keep His promises.

I’m thankful for the promise and accuracy of Scripture. I’m grateful for the hope it provides. Aren’t you?
